GLOBALINDO.CO, CALIFORNIA - Perhelatan Academy Awards ke-90 di Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, California, Minggu (4/3/2018) waktu setempat menobatkan The Shape of Water sebagai Best Picture atau Film Terbaik.
Film ini merupakan arahan sutradara Guillermo del Toro yang sebelumnya juga telah dinobatkan sebagai peraih Piala Oscar untuk sutradara terbaik.

The Shape of Water mengalahkan para pesaingnya yang tak kalah kuat seperti Call Me by Your Name, Darkest Hour, Dunkirk, Get Out, Lady Bird, Phantom Thread, The Post, dan Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
“Saya ingin mempersembahkan ini pada para pembuat film muda; pemuda yang menunjukkan [kita] cara melakukan segala sesuatu,” kata Del Toro saat menerima piala Oscar untuk The Shape of Water.
Film bergenre thriller-fantasi ini menampilkan Sally Hawkins sebagai perempuan bisu yang menemukan manusia hibrida di sebuah tangki di laboratorium rahasia milik pemerintah dan membantunya meloloskan diri.
Pada Oscar 2018, The Shape of Water meraup 13 nominasi, termasuk di antaranya Actor in a Supporting Role (Richard Jenkins), Actress in a Leading Role (Sally Hawkins), Best Cinematography, Music (Original Score), dan Writing (Original Screenplay).(kcm/ziz)
